Fire Ban Update: Tuesday, April 20, 2021

Tuesday, 20 April 2021 12:04

Drummond/North Elmsley Tay Valley Fire Rescue is moving to a partial fire ban for Drummond/North Elmsley Township and Tay Valley Township. Residents are now permitted to have small, supervised campfires and burn in burn barrels.

Please continue to be cautious when burning as there are some areas in both Townships that are still quite dry. Make sure to follow all the rules listed on your fire permit, avoid burning in areas with long dead grass, make sure to have a water source available to extinguish the fire and never leave a fire unattended.

We would like to thank all residents for your patience and understanding over the last couple of weeks. Even though we still had to respond to a few emergency grass/brush fires, overall, we were able to keep the numbers of calls down and everyone safe.

We understand the frustration everyone is experiencing because of the pandemic and hope that by moving to a partial fire ban residents can enjoy a campfire with their loved ones. That being said, we ask that you please continue to adhere to public health guidelines to help limit the spread of Covid-19 and keep everyone in our community safe.
